If you ever wanted to learn how to code like a programmer, then Codeacademy is the Web site for you. As soon as you press the “Get Started” prompt you are well on your way. The first lesson is learning the JavaScript length Property. As you can see from the example, I entered my name by following the instructions from the prompt. For beginners, you will soon realize that you are actually learning code by just typing your name.
Note: I didn’t put my name in quotes (“Sharren”) as it asked, but this program will let you know by displaying an error message.
They even have a program called Code Year that sends weekly exercises straight to your computer. Sounds great huh? Well, it should because you will also learn the latest front-end development languages: JavaScript, Ruby, and Python. Don’t fret my budding back-end developers because these languages are creeping into back-end development as well.

With the explosive start to 2012, Sims says the company is scrambling to put together as much coursework as possible, while listening to user feedback for the most sought after languages. The curriculum is created in part by engineers (who often have a reputation for being poor educators), but the company has also hired former Teach for America instructors and professors at NYU and Columbia University’s engineering department to consult on curriculum structure and language.
Enough said. Try it for yourself!
