Deliver a Great Customer Experience By Connecting With Your Reader
There is always a debate concerning which content management system, blog, or business site is the best, or at least on top of the rest, at the moment. As far as content management systems are concerned, some individuals polled enjoy the ease of use of WordPress, while others enjoy Drupal’s code manipulating style. Many people look at numbers which is understandable the way our society is organized. Everything is about numbers. The amount of money a person makes, the number of cars owned, the stock exchange highs and lows of any country, etc. Unfortunately, one of the main things lacking in their numbers is how they connect with their customers. Now, of course, this is really hard to gauge, but the payoff is in the (dare I say it?) number of widgets sold or customers serviced. Like I said, it’s all about numbers.
A website runs on the same premise. By connecting with your readers, customers, viewers, or what ever you wish to call them, numbers will increase. Discovering your base’s likes, dislikes, aspirations, etc., is the key to connecting with them and delivering more of what they want to see. Individuals flock to what is the most important to them at a particular time in their lives. During a recent business conference I attended, a poll over one hundred people was taken. We were given a list and asked to rank them in order of importance. The list ran the gamut and contained words such as patriotism, family, children, job satisfaction, etc., and of course the replies were as different as the people. They then instructed us to use this concept when dealing with individuals we supervise, peers, and even our own bosses. Find out what is important to them. It sounds simple, but many still try to ram unwanted information, widgets, or items, down their customers’ throats. This one exercise helped to demonstrate that if you want your numbers to increase, find out what your customers really desire and use that to fuel their motivation toward your product.
